Privacy policy

Last updated October 8, 2026

Hey Lantern ("we," "us") sets up and runs automated phone assistants for local businesses. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who this covers

It covers three groups: business owners who contact us or sign up (our clients), the people who call our clients' businesses and reach the assistant (callers), and visitors to this website.

What we collect

How we use it

Calls may be recorded. Every caller hears this at the start of the call.

Who we share it with

A caller's details are shared with the business they called. We also use service providers to run the assistant: a voice-AI provider that handles the conversation, a phone carrier that connects calls and sends texts, and a database and hosting provider that store call logs. These providers process data only to deliver our service.

We do not sell personal information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the service providers that deliver the messages.

We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep call recordings, transcripts and summaries while the client's service is active and for up to 90 days after it ends, unless the client asks us to delete them sooner. Clients can ask for deletion at any time.

Your choices

Security

We use access controls and encrypted connections, and only we and the client can see a client's call data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Our service is for businesses and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
